Drink, drank, drunk, and then oil starvation

So my Toyota Camry might fall under an oil consumption TSB as it's consuming oil on par with my old Acura Integra (1 quart/1000 mi). Of course, instead of figuring out if we should get it serviced (they'll drop in new pistons), my dad pretty much spent twenty minutes interrogating me over every single detail in the report and taking cheap potshots at my confidence.

Check your oil at the gas station? - that is such a stupid idea, clearly you don't know about cars. It's also my fault I didn't know the oil change intervals and history for a car I didn't start driving until early January. I'm obviously too dumb to own this car because he maintained it while I was living 75 miles away and not driving it at all.

Literally everything was some cheap shot at me and followed up with something about how he's smarter and a better since he worked at a gas station in his teens, so he knows every single detail about every single car and I don't.

I'm a better driver than you. I've driven sleep deprived more than you. I've never had a serious accident but you'll definitely crash if anybody ever cuts you off since I'm a better driver than you (that's pretty much a lie).

There was literally no satisfactory answer I could give without getting kicked in the metaphorical nuts every time. You pay for an oil change where they put tamper-proof tape on? Well it's obviously my fault because my dad can so easily cheat the test and burn oil in the car. The fact that the TSB didn't cover every loophole is also my fault because I couldn't come up with as many ways to cheat the test like he did and not because Toyota doesn't give a shit if you cheat them out of a $600 set of pistons.

Also, the fact that I didn't know that replacing pistons is basically an engine rebuild is obviously because I don't know about rebuilding engines like he does. Clearly it's because he's smarter than me as he rebuilt his Toyota truck's engine twice.

I commute about 700 miles a week and I haven't crashed my car or been written up for speeding, so I'm guessing I'm not that bad of a driver, right? Still, this car is really leaving a bad taste in my mouth, which is a shame because it's a surprisingly good highway tourer.

Don't worry, I still like cars and I plan to buy a Focus ST with the ST3 package someday. Maybe I'll blow the Camry's engine and write it off into a guardrail so my dad can continue being happy that he's the alpha male of the household, and "prove" that he's better than me. And then I can buy something I want.

The buzz is, other than a slip in quality for those Camrys, is Toyota advises oil change intervals that are actually too long for those engines. If you change it every 3-5k miles, allegedly, ALLEGEDLY, the excessive consumption does not occur.

Now about your dad: ... Well, there's too much to say. Sounds like he went too far with the scolding. His satisfaction in "putting you in your place" is pretty unsettling. My rebuttal is: oil is cheap.
